Faith Over Feelings: Trusting GOD When Life Doesn’t Make Sense

By Ijeoma Ibekwe | Healing Well of JESUS Ministries Intl.

🕊️ Introduction

There comes a time in every believer’s walk when faith is tested, not just by storms—but by silence. What do you do when GOD seems quiet? When your heart is heavy, and nothing makes sense? When your emotions scream “Give up,” but your spirit whispers, “Hold on”?

This is where true faith is born.
Not in the absence of emotion, but in the decision to trust GOD beyond what you feel.

Today, let’s explore how to walk in faith over feelings, especially when life throws us into confusion, heartbreak, or uncertainty.

📖 What Is Faith?

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Faith is not based on what you see or feel—it’s rooted in the unchanging promises of GOD.

💭 Feelings Are Real, But They're Not Always True

Emotions are part of the human experience, but they aren’t always trustworthy guides.
Even the Prophet Elijah, after calling down fire from heaven, felt hopeless and wanted to give up. But GOD reminded him he wasn’t alone:

“Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel...”
1 Kings 19:18 (KJV)

What we feel is real—but it’s not always the full truth. GOD sees the bigger picture.

🔥 Biblical Examples of Faith Over Feelings

  • Abraham left everything familiar, trusting GOD’s voice without knowing where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8)

  • Hannah, though heartbroken, poured her soul before the LORD and walked away with peace. (1 Samuel 1:18)

  • JESUS, in Gethsemane, felt the weight of the cross—but still surrendered:

“Not my will, but thine, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

These weren’t moments of emotional ease—they were acts of faith in spite of emotion.

🛡️ How to Choose Faith Daily

Here are four ways to keep walking in faith even when your feelings try to pull you away:

  1. Feed your faith with the Word

“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of GOD.” (Romans 10:17)

  2. Speak what GOD says—not what you feel.
Align your declarations with Scripture, not your situation.

  3. Stay in godly community.
Surround yourself with people who will lift your arms when you feel weak (Exodus 17:12).

  4. Worship through the battle.
Sometimes the breakthrough comes after the praise goes up.

🌸 Encouragement for Your Heart

Beloved, even when you can’t trace GOD, you can trust Him.
His silence does not mean absence. His delays are not denials.
You may not understand everything right now—but one day, you will look back and see that every tear, every delay, every unknown had purpose.

Keep trusting. He is with you. Always.

🙏🏽 A Prayer for Today

“LORD, help me to walk by faith and not by sight. Strengthen my heart when my feelings are loud and life is uncertain. Teach me to trust You beyond what I see or understand. I choose faith over fear, and truth over emotion. In JESUS’ name, Amen.”
