Are You Running From Your Call?

There comes a time in our walk with the Lord when we are faced with a choice: to obey the call of God or to run from it.

If you’ve ever felt the weight of a calling that seems too big, too unfamiliar, or too uncomfortable, you’re not alone. I’m writing this today because I, too, have found myself wrestling with the call of God—again.

Whether God has called you to be a prophet, a pastor, an evangelist, a teacher, or to lead a ministry or Christian business, the truth is, His assignments often feel far greater than our abilities. We question, “God, me? Are You sure?” And sometimes, like Jonah, we run. We try to do anything but the one thing He’s clearly asking of us.

Lately, I’ve been in that Jonah moment. Every door I’ve tried to open—every application I’ve submitted, every interview I’ve walked into with confidence—has led back to one place: the calling.

Just today, I left another interview that seemed to go well, but there was one major barrier: something that would take me a whole year to get. I walked out confused and frustrated, asking the Lord, “Is this You closing doors, or is it the enemy?” I cried. I pondered. I prayed. And deep down, I already knew the answer. The only open door is the one God has placed in front of me all along—ministry.

Maybe that’s where you are, too. You’ve been trying to go back to the familiar. Like the disciples who returned to fishing after Jesus' death, you want the comfort of what once was. But when Jesus shows up, everything changes. His presence brings clarity, direction, and purpose.

And today, I realized something else: I’ve been letting other people dictate how I walk out what God has called me to do. But they weren’t there when He called me. They didn’t hear His voice in the midnight hour. And they can’t live out the assignment He gave me.

So I made a decision. I’m done applying for positions just because they feel safe or make sense. I’m done running. I’m choosing to stay at the feet of Jesus and fully embrace the ministry and business He’s birthed in me.

If you’re struggling like me—wrestling with stepping into full-time ministry or launching that God-given business—I want to encourage you today: God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Remember what He said in Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV):
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

He knows the plan, even when we don’t. And because it’s His plan, we can trust that it’s good.

So my question to you is this: Are you running from your call?

If the only open door in your life right now is the one marked “ministry,” “purpose,” or “calling,” maybe it’s time to stop running and start walking—by faith.

Let God lead you. Let Him direct you. You’re not alone. He will sustain you. He will provide for you. And He will use your obedience to impact others in ways you never imagined.

I love you guys so much. And more importantly—God loves you deeply.

Stop running.
Answer the call.
He’s waiting.
